Because He Lives-Trust and Obey (April 17,2016)

Because He Lives-Be Transformed by His Presence (April 10, 2016)

NT: Acts 9:1-6

Gospel: John 21:1-19

Today we gather on the third Sunday after the Resurrection hearing in these two stories of people, pursuing their own person agendas and passions, having their own priorities.

Then we see Jesus, entering their lives and in dramatic and subtle ways, changing their priorities and strengthening their commitment. So I lift up two ideas for our reflection and action:

Because He Lives-Be Bold (April 3, 2016)

NT: Acts 5:27-32                    Gospel: John 20:19-31

What is going on, with these disciples,  is something they ate that has caused this change of attitude in the disciples?

What has gotten into them? After being threatened by powerful leaders, arrested, jailed, and miraculously released, the apostles went back to preaching. This was nothing less than God’s power working through them!

Preparing for Pentecost- Open your heart

John 5:1-9

Acts 16:9-15

In the story in Acts, Paul going to Macedonia to proclaim the message of Christ.

There he would share the gospel of Jesus Christ with some women who gathered by the river outside the gate of the city. A woman named Lydia, who was a worshiper of God, among the crowd, listened to Paul. The text described her as a dealer in purple cloth, which tells us that she was among the wealthy.

Called to be the Church in Our Neighbourhood (Remembrance Sunday)

Jeremiah 29:4-7,11-14

Matthew 5:13-16

This morning against the background of remembering those who have served and given their lives for the sake of others, in the interest of freedom, so that those who come behind them can benefit from a life that is full and free, we will reflect on what it means to be the church in our neighbourhood. What does God expect of the church, how does God expect us to live as the church in our neighbourhood.
